CHAPEL HILL, NC - As usual, you could hear a pin drop in the Smith Center on Saturday. Although the UNC basketball team blew out Presbyterian College 103-64, it was an altercation with a fan that turned out to be one the most exciting event of the evening.
At one point during the second half, as UNC's Deon Thompson stepped to the foul line, the lone Presbyterian Blue Hose fan in the crowd yelled out "your gonna miss, Deon."
The aging fanbase didn't know what to think as the fan cheered for the opposing team. It is reported that several fans activated their Life Alert bracelets.
UNC coach, Roy Williams, feeling offended by vulgar language, told the fan to, "shut up."
Then the fan began impersonating actor Robert Deniro saying "You talkin to me? Are you talking to me?
Feeling upstaged, Williams repsonded with "yeah, I'm talking to you."
The Presbyterian College fan, Brian King, was then escorted out of the building by security. UNC officials claim he was intoxicated and unresponsive to their requests to move seats.
On Monday, the athletics department issued new rules for fans visiting the Smith Center. The main change is that fans are not to cheer for the opposing team.
"We have a very relaxed atmosphere during our games here at the University of North Carolina," UNC associate athletics director Steve Kirshner said. "We'll do anything to preserve that."

MINNEAPOLIS - Goldy Gopher, mascot for the Univesity of Minnesota, is in the hot seat after mocking Penn State defensive end Jerome Hayes while he was praying during pregame warmups last Saturday.
"I'm so offended by the whole ordeal," Hayes said. "I'm not sure if I want to play football again."
Several religious organizations are pushing for the school to drop Goldy as their mascot.
"The University of Minnesota does not condone behavior like that. There will be disciplinary action," Minnesota spokesman Dan Wolter said.
"I'm sorry," Goldy said in a written statement. "I'm not really sure what exactly offended everyone, but I guess I'm sorry."
Penn State won the contest 20-0.

AMES, IOWA - On Tuesday, top basketball prospect Harrison Barnes, received a visit from both Duke Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski and North Carolina Coach Roy Williams. The 6-8 senior from Ames, Iowa spent 3 hours with Coach K, then entertained Williams for another 90 minutes.
Although meeting with Coach K was scheduled beforehand, the meeting with coach Williams was more last minute. Barnes had met with coach Williams once before at his home. Coach Williams then started showing up at the star basketball player's home games.
"I was in the neighborhood," Williams confessed when asked of his visit.
Always playing the nice guy, Coach K explained, "I'm not going to get in the way of them communicating. But we all know he's mine."
Barnes later admitted that he had come to expect the unexpected throughout the recruiting process. He then declared for the NBA draft.
